At Colleen McClure Design, we have grown our studio and are now taking on Commercial Projects!
But, before we get started, what is Commercial Interior Design exactly?

Commercial Interior Design covers a broad spectrum of interior spaces and environments ranging from offices, retail spaces, restaurants and environments where business is conducted. Commercial Interior Design plays a pivotal role in the long-term success of a business. The main goal is to create an environment that increases the functionality and elevates style for financial gain. It is about translating the client’s vision in ways that are practical, profitable and aesthetic.

In commercial design our scope of work ranges from drawing schematics and technical plans, selecting appropriate materials, overseeing the budget and scheduling and ensuring that construction is conducted in accordance with the vision of the client. Residential Design is all about designing personal spaces that are relaxing, comfortable and caters to the specific needs of the client or occupants of the space. Whereas commercial is focused on designing a functional space that consider the businesses brand and target market. Every commercial project is client specific and requires in depth research in order to understand the individuals who are occupying the space daily, what their needs are, and developing innovative ways to create an environment that maximizes productivity and balances work related stresses.

Although there are similarities between the two, commercial design is slightly more complex, in residential you are focused on one group of people who share a common space and have similar daily routines. Commercial interiors require the designer to
consider the needs of more that one group of people - the owners and their visions, the employees who are the primary occupants and the customers.

Our process focuses on breaking down the client’s needs, branding and function of the space while conceptualising a style that fits the requirements while keeping the space aesthetically pleasing, innovative and modern.
